Operatives of Ogun State Police Command have arrested three leading members of the dreaded Eiye Confraternity who have been allegedly terrorizing Ijebu-Ode and its environs.

The suspects, Odukoya Odushina, Subomi Popoola and Itunuoluwa Taiwo were arrested after the police at Obalende Divisional Headquarters in Ijebu Ode received information that the cultists were seen holding a nocturnal meeting at a black spot known as Sanga at the back of Central Mosque, with the view to unleashing terror on members of the community. 

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi who confirmed the arrest of the suspects in Abeokuta, said the hoodlums attacked the policemen with dangerous weapons when they sighted them.

Mr Oyeyemi explained that one of the suspects had been arrested once and charged to court, but was granted bail.

He listed items recovered from suspects including jewellery, phones and suspected hard drugs.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Lanre Bankole, has ordered a full scale investigation into their activities.

Mr Bankole also ordered a massive manhunt for other members of the group with the view to charging them to court as soon as possible.
