The wife of Oyo state governor, Mrs Tamunominini Makinde has promised victims of gender-based Violence of her unflinching support.

Mrs Makinde made the promise after a stakeholder’s meeting with two under-aged abused victims in her office 

Mrs Makinde who maintained that abusers must not go unpunished called for an end to the stigmatization of victims.

“The stakeholders meeting was to embrace one or two victims that had been sexually assaulted, to let them know that they are not alone and to also re-evaluate what we have done in the state to see how we can serve the state better. We have looked at how the ministry of women affairs and social inclusion can better embrace and restructure some of the things they do.

 The community should allow the law to take its course so that perpetrators will not commit the crime again”

In his submission, the state’s commissioner of Police, Mr Williams Adebowale said the force was ready to partner with the office of the wife of the governor to end gender-based Violence.

CP Adebowale, who called for the restoration of family values, said its absence had been eroding morals in the society.

Similarly, The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion in the state, Alhaja Kafilat Olayiwola called on victims of gender-based Violence to utilize the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law, VAPP.

Head of Service, Alhaja Ololade Agboola, Commissioner for Justice Mr Oyelowo Oyewo, Commissioner for Health, Dr Bode Ladipo, Commissioner for Special Duties, Mrs Joke Sanni and permanent secretary ministry of women affairs and social inclusion, Mrs Grace Ojerinde attended the stakeholder’s forum.
