OGHA Members Charge Government on Realistic Budget Estimate

Ogun State House of Assembly Committee, OGHA, on Finance and Appropriation wants the state government to ensure the achievement of a more realistic budget estimate and performance that will further consolidate the socio-economic development of the State.

Chairman of the Committee, Mr Olakunle Sobukanla stated this at the Assembly Complex, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta during interactive sessions with the Ogun State Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr Olaolu Olabimtan on the proposed 2023-2025 State Medium Term Expenditure Framework, MTEF.

Other members of the committee including, the Deputy Speaker, Mr Akeem Balogun, Mr Yusuf Sherif, Mr Yusuf Amosun, and Mrs Bolanle Ajayi tasked the team to focus more on the feasibility and viability of the state finances. 

Earlier in his presentation, the State Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr Olabimtan, stated that the fiscal proposal was prepared with due consideration for the national economic updates including crude oil price, inflation increase, non-oil sector impact and exchange rate effect.

The commissioner maintained that the proposed medium-term revenue strategy remained a more realistic policy-driven model being a bottom-up approach guided by a proper and realistic revenue strategy.
