As the campaign kicks off for Presidential and National Assembly polls in the 2023 general election, the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mr. Adebowale Williams has cautioned political parties and supporters to act within the law.

Mr Williams gave the admonition during a courtesy visit to the INEC headquarters in Ibadan.

The commissioner of police, who noted that the era of thuggery during electioneering was over in the state, said itinerary had schemed for various political parties campaigning across the state to forestall any clash or fight between supporters.

Mr. Williams gave the assurance that the police would work effectively to ensure that no one is denied fair participation in the general election process.

In his speech, Administrative Secretary, INEC, Oyo State, Alhaji Abiodun Oníkàté-Amosu explained that the Police plays a leading role in the electioneering process, saying the commission was making a compilation of dark spots in the state to ensure a smooth election process.

Mr. Oníkàté -Amosu added that INEC would soon take delivery of eight thousand units of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) for accreditation and transmission of results in all the 6390 polling units in Oyo state.
