The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) says Nigerians should increase their prayers for the country and support the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct free, fair, and peaceful elections next year.

Archbishop Daniel Okoh, President of CAN, who joins Nigerians in celebrating the country’s 62nd anniversary of independence, says development is the collective responsibility of all citizens.

Archbishop Daniel Okoh in a statement advises Nigerians to avoid vote-buying as politicians who offer inducements to voters, particularly on election day, are not truly concerned with the welfare of the people.

The CAN President urges the Federal Government to resolve the impasse with university lecturers in the best interests of young people whose future is at stake.

It also urges the government at all levels to provide basic infrastructures for citizens hoping that God will rescue Nigeria from the shackle of insecurity and poverty.
