The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 division Nigerian Army, Major General Aminu Chinade has assured residents of Oyo State that its ongoing “Operation Still Water” would tackle prevailing security concerns in the state.

The GOC gave the assurance when he paid a courtesy visit to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde in his office, in Ibadan.

He urged the residents not to be worried when they observe increased military presence in the state.

While disclosing that the exercise would run through this year and perhaps next year, Major General Chinade called for collaboration and synergies among the people, government and security agencies, pledging commitment to always deliver on their constitutional responsibilities.

The GOC equally acknowledged the support and cooperation from Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration and solicited for more support from the government and people as security required collective responsibilities.

Responding, Governor Seyi Makinde explained that though the paucity of funds has limited security efforts his administration would not relent in providing needed resources that would guarantee the security of lives and properties as well as assist in intelligence gathering to help security agencies in the state

He also appreciated the Nigeria Army for contributing to the state joint security task force “Operation Burst” and maintaining cordial military-civilian relationships as well as healthy security synergies with other security agencies in the state
