The ancient city of Ibadan played host to political gladiators and Eminent personalities in the Southwest for the ten years remembrance of a former Governor of Oyo State, Alhaji Lamidi Adesina.

The political gladiators defied their party affiliations to unite for the ceremony held in remembrance of the late icon, who served as governor between 1999 and 2003.

The ceremony once again afforded family members, friends and political associates the opportunity to extol the great virtues of Alhaji Lamidi Adesina, which they described as evergreen ten years after his demise.

A very close ally and political friend to the late Alhaji Adesina, Chief Olusegun Osoba, who is a former Governor of Ogun State, said the humble and contented attributes of Lam Adesina made him outstanding throughout his lifetime, especially when he served as governor.

Similarly, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Olalekan Balogun, represented by the Maye Olubadan of Ibadan land, Chief Lekan Alabi, said the great works of Alhaji Adesina would forever be remembered.

In a lecture delivered on the occasion, former National Commissioner of INEC, Professor Lai Olurode called on political leaders in the Southwest to embark on aggressive voters’ education ahead of the general elections.

Professor Olurode said the Southwest region usually had the highest number of rejected votes during elections hence the need for leaders to act.

Representative of the Oyo State government and Deputy Governor, Chief Bayo Lawal said the late Lam Adesina was one of those who fought in the struggle for democracy in Nigeria.

Wife of the late governor, Alhaja Sarat Adesina said she was elated by the overwhelming love, support and respect for her late husband even after ten years of his demise.

Dignitaries who graced the occasion included former Deputy Governors of Oyo State, Chief Moses Adeyemo and Barrister Iyiola Oladokun, the Olubadan-in-council, as well as, the All Progressives Congress, APC, Governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Teslim Folarin.
