Mr Adaralewa said by ensuring adequate security at INEC offices for the protection of sensitive materials, the elections would be hitch-free, fair and credible.

He said the training and retraining of the officers became imperative for officers and men of the command to have knowledge about guidelines for election coverage.

Mr Adaralewa said though, NSCDC had been recognized and applauded for its successful roles in past election coverage, there was still the need for extra professionalism as well as non-partisanship while discharging their civic responsibility in the coming elections.

The NSCDC boss in Oyo state explained further that the workshop would shed more light on the general conduct of officers on election duties, intelligence gathering and reporting, code of conduction on election day as well as the roles of NSCDC officers on election duties.

“It is a fact that security is an indispensable ingredient for the growth and sustenance of any democratic government”

“The roles of security agencies cannot be overemphasized taking into cognizance the responsibility the Nigerian constitution and other laws bestow on them to ensure free, fair and credible elections in electoral processes.
