Residents of Ibadan have received the judgment of the Supreme Court on the legal tender validity of the old naira note with excitement.
The supreme court early in the morning in a motion experte filed by Zamfara Kaduna Kogi governors retraining the CBN from implementing the February deadline on the legal tender validity of ₦1,000, ₦500 and ₦200 notes.
Some of the residents including Mr Orimolade Adegoke, Mr Okaoluwa Osofisan and Pastor Elizabeth Adewusi expressed happiness that the naira circulation hardship would soon ease off.
In a reaction, a legal practitioner Mr Ayo Arowosafe who spoke on the judgement explained that failure of the CBN commercial banks and other stakeholders to implement the judgement would violate contempt of the apex court
Mr Arowosafe enjoined Nigerians to continue their transaction with the old naira note beyond February 10 pending the final decision of the Supreme Court.
