Tinubu’s Victory: Jubilation in Osun, Ondo

Residents of some communities in Osun State, members and supporters of the All Progressives Congress on Wednesday, trooped out in large numbers to celebrate the declaration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of last Saturday’s Presidential election.

In Osogbo the state capital, the APC members who were dressed mostly in T-shirt designed with the images of the president-elect and immediate past governor of the state, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola were seen in their large numbers around the Olaiya flyover, Ogooluwa and Okefair axis of the capital city, celebrating the victory.

Similarly, at Iragbiji, the hometown of the former Governor, residents stormed the Palace of Aragbiji where the celebration took off, while in some communities in Boripe , Ifelodun and Iwo local governments, residents also moved on the Streets singing in jubilation of the electoral victory.

Some of them who spoke with newsmen said without anyone mobilizing for the celebration, they beckoned on one another and started moving round and other members of the communities began to join them to celebrate the victory.

Similarly, some commercial drivers In Akure, Ondo state on Wednesday, erupted in celebration following the declaration of Senator Bola Tinubu as the winner of the 2023 presidential election.The drivers who gathered at the popular old garage in Akure were seen holding flags bearing pictures of the president-elect and his vice while they danced and chanted Tinubu campaign themes, especially the “awa lokan” slogan.

Speaking on behalf of the drivers, Mr Saliu Ojo expressed hope that Nigerians would experience a new era of abundance and economic transformation when the president-elect takes over power.

The situation was not different at the popular Erekesan market as women exchanged congratulatory messages over the victory of the APC presidential candidate, Senator Bola Tinubu.

The market women appealed to the incoming administration to ensure prompt reopening of borders so that prices of goods could become affordable. 

In the same vein, some residents of Ibadan, the Oyo state capital have expressed divergent views on the emergence of All Progressive Congress Presidential Candidate, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

A resident, Mr Tajudeen Subairu said the victory was well deserved as it reflected the mandate of the people.
” This is a clear reflection of the true feeling of people towards the candidate that won. This is the first time people would vote according to their conscience.

On her part, Mrs Kikelomo Ali who commended INEC for a peaceful exercise added that the winner shouId look at bringing succour to the people.
“The situation in the country is tense, an average Nigerian cannot afford basic things of life. The president-elect shouId make economic reformation top of his agenda”.

A trader, Mrs Oluchi Chiedu and Mr Charles Irabor noted that though they voted for the candidate of the Labour party but prayed for a successful tenure for the president elect.
‘I won’t lie, I voted for Peter Obi as my kinsman, since he didn’t win, I wish the winner of the presidential election success in his administration”.

“Though, my candidate, the Labour party candidate didn’t win but life continues, I wish BAT success”.
