Property worth millions of naira has been destroyed following a rainstorm at Iwoye-Ijesa in Oriade local government area of Osun state.

Radio Nigeria correspondent who was at the scene of the incident reports that more than sixty houses including blocks of classrooms, churches and market stalls were blown away by the heavy wind.

Speaking in an emotional laden voice, the Oluwoye of Iwoye-Ijesa, Oba Amos Ogidiolu said the rain which lasted for about fifteen minutes wreaked serious havoc in the ancient town

Oba Ogidiolu appealed to the Oriade Local Council, Osun state government and well-meaning individuals to come to the aid of residents, who have been rendered homeless.

Also speaking, a community leader, Chief Oludare Ajayi and a trader, Mrs Omolola Oginni described the situation as a complete disaster, noting that an incident of such magnitude had never occurred in the community.

The duo called on Iwoye Ijesa sons and daughters in the diaspora to assist their people in this trying period.
