A peasant farmer, Mr Adewumi Babatunde has been kidnapped on his way from his farm in Omu-Ekiti, Oye Local government.

Mr Babatunde was abducted on Sunday afternoon between Omu and Ayede-Ekiti.

Confirming the incident with Progress FM on a telephone call, the wife of the victim, Mrs Bosede Babatunde said the kidnappers had contacted the family and demanded three million naira ransom.

Also, the Owajumu of Omu-Ekiti, Oba Adeyeye Ogundeyi who lamented the incessant kidnapping of indigenes especially, farmers in the area, urged the government to provide watertight security on Omu-Ijelu-Ayede road.

When contacted, the Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, P.R.O, Mr Sunday Abutu said he had not been briefed on the matter and promised to find out.
