Motor Parks in Ibadan metropolis are experiencing low patronage as few passengers were seen travelling out of the state capital.

Our correspondent, ‘Dayo Adu, reports that in some of the parks visited, few passengers were seen boarding vehicles to to other parts of the country as transport fares outside Ibadan and other states of the federation have gone up.

Cost of fare to Lagos has increased from 1500 to 2300, passengers going to Abeokuta now pay 3100 as against the former price of 2500.

Similarly, passengers going to the northern part of nigeria are paying double as high as 23100 as against the 12000 naira it was boarded during the Eid el fitri two months ago. Cost of fare from ibadan to Abuja and Kebbi state are 15,000 and 22000 as against the former price of 10,000 and 11,000.

Some of the passengers who attributed the situation to the effect of removal of subsidy on petrol said it was a short time sacrifice.

A commercial who plys Ibadan to Niger linked the low patronage to the disparity in the prices of petrol across states of the federation and advocated flat price of 300 naira per litre.
