Like it counterpart in kwara, Ogun State government has announced plans to disbursement of cash palliative of 10,000 naira monthly to public servants and pensioners in the state as part of efforts to cushion the effect of subsidy removal on fuel.

Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Mr Tokunbo Talabi who told newsmen in Abeokuta that the 10,000 naira palliatives would be paid for 3 months in the first instance with effect from July 2023.

He explained that food palliative would be provided for the most vulnerable citizens. 

Mr Talabi said that Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government had been directed to work out the modalities for reducing the number of working days per week among the workers. 

The Secretary to the State Government said the plan was to ensure that 20 percent of the staff strength in every establishment would be off-duty daily while hazard allowance would be paid to health workers and medical personnel. 

Other measures approved by the government, according to Mr Talabi include the immediate release of pending Letters of Promotion for 2021 and 2022, payment of March and April 2023 leave bonuses to public servants in the State and ensuring the provision of immediate cash- backing for the quarterly payment of gratuities to pensioners.

He stated that the Gateway Trading Company had also been directed to establish distribution outlets across the state to ensure the sales of items to the people at the rate obtainable before the fuel price increase.

While emphasizing that fertilizers and other farm inputs would be supplied to farmers at subsidized prices, Mr Talabi announced that the local governments had been mandated to work with Community Development Associations and Community Leaders to submit three roads as projects for immediate road infrastructure intervention of the government.
