Oyo State governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde wants more cordial relationships between his government and the workers as normalcy returned to the state secretariat after the state labour unions ended a week-long protest to press home their demands.

Governor Makinde while addressing the leadership of NLC at the  Governor’s office, Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan, promised that the state government would be having quarterly meetings with the leadership of the labour unions for more harmonious working relationship between the labour and government. 

The governor who urged the state workers to always consider the progress of the state first in their dealings, tasked all stakeholders to ensure that the peaceful atmosphere of the state is not disrupted.

Reacting on behalf of the workers, the state NLC Chairman, Mr Kayode Martins, lauded the magnanimity of Governor Makinde to address the workers. 

The Oyo state NLC boss explained that the governor has agreed to accede to their demands pointing out that government has paid  four months  deductions from salaries out of the six owed with a promise to pay the remaining two in August

Mr Martins also disclosed that further meetings would be held between the two parties.

Radio Nigeria reports that workers as at 7am this morning have been reporting to their duties.
