Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has issued a performance monitoring template for the implementation of the five-point agenda for his cabinet members comprising twenty-five commissioners and ten Special Advisers.

The 5-point agenda include workers welfare, boosting businesses and revive the State economy, through the introduction of policies that would enhance State GDP.

The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. Kolapo Alimi stated this while addressing Governor’s Office correspondents at the end of the maiden meeting of the state’s Executive Council meeting held at the Council Chambers of the Governor’s Office, Abere, Osun state.

Governor Adeleke noted that the cabinet members had been fully equipped with their ministries and agencies duties to productively contribute to governance after attending the leadership training organised for them.

He maintained that the foundation of policy innovations within the administration is the five point agenda, directing the cabinet members to build on his governance agenda.

“You are expected to take note of certain issues for us to achieve collective success. Projects and programmes you inherited should not be abandoned. I noticed a certain lay back attitude in the continuity of some of our 100 days projects and policies.

“You did not take over ministries and agencies without ongoing programmes. I did not expect any of you to start window shopping instead of pushing ahead with existing programmes. As much as I welcome innovations, we should not behave like the APC government that takes joy in abandoning inherited items.

The Governor advised his cabinet members to uphold public finance regulations and due process and avoid activities that may portray them as those seeking self-aggrandisement.

He tasked them to adopt best practices, due diligence in project conception and design stressing that bogus project estimation can land anyone in trouble.

“Let us be reminded that nothing is hidden within the public service process. I did not appoint any of you to breach the law. I will not protect anybody caught violating public service regulations”.

“We are here to serve the people. We must act and conduct ourselves in service of the people. That is how to justify the confidence Osun people overwhelmingly reposed in us”.

The Council members assured the Governor of their steadfastness in serving the state, unanimously agreed that the weekly Executive meeting will take place on every Wednesday of the week.

Similarly, Governor Ademola Adeleke has urged chairmen of local government areas, local council development Areas and Area Office to replicate the programmes in his agenda in their locality.

Governor Adeleke, who made the call at the inaugural Joint Local Government Account Allocation Committee, JAAC, meeting said his administration would monitor projects being executed by the local governments.

Calling for collaborative effort to develop the state, the Governor said he would not tolerate any act that would drag the administration backward.

He urged them to be closer to the people by operating an open door policy as they are representative of the state government at the grassroots.

The Governor advised the Chairmen to be diligent and work with the fear of God as well as be united to serve the people without acrimony.

While assuring that he would complete all the road projects by Aregbesola and Oyetola administration as the road were meant for the use of the people, Governor Adeleke directed the Chairmen to come up with people-oriented projects which they can do for the people.

In his remark, the Chairman, Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, in Osun State, Chief Sarafadeen Awotunde assured the continued support of the Local Government Chairmen towards the development of Osun state
