It was celebration of a life full of impact and accomplishments as clergymen, friends, and associates, joined the General Overseer of World Outreach Revival Centre, WOREC, Apostle Peter Akanji, and his Sister, Reverend Esther Olarewaju, to bid their matriarch, Madam Emily Mofoyeke Akanji farewell.

The funeral service which was held at her residence in Alakia, Ibadan, was saturated with celebration as WOREC Choir members stunned the congregants with melodious renditions elucidating the many parts of the deceased as an accomplished trader and prayer warrior in her 105 years sojourn on earth.

In a sermon, delivered in Yoruba language, Reverend Joseph Popoola eulogised the late Madam Akanji for grooming her two children as ministers of the gospel who both answered God’s call into full time ministry.

Reverend Popoola who is a former chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, Egbeda Local Government, urged people to shelve their inordinate ambitions and heed the call of God unto good deeds and uprightness, adding that death could call at anytime.

Son of the deseased, Apostle Peter Akanji, who is the husband to an Assistant Director News and Current Affairs, Radio Nigeria Ibadan Zonal Station, Mrs Anthonia Akanji, paid glowing tributes to his mother, saying, she would be greatly missed for her wise counsel and prayers.

On her part, daughter of the deceased Reverend Esther Olarewaju, said mother taught her total reliance and devotion to God.

Born into the family of Akinjo in Oje Area of Ibadan, over a century ago, late Madam Emily Mofoyeke Akanji was known for her business acumen as she was fondly called “Iya Ọlọ́jà”.

She was a devout Christian and a good composer of songs who composed several melodious songs for her grandchildren during her lifetime.
