Beneficiaries of the Federal Government’s Agricultural Empowerment Programme in Ogun State say the machines given them would help minimize wastage during harvest.
They made the submission at the distribution of grinding machines to yam farmers by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security in Abeokuta.

Some of the yam farmers, including Mr Samuel Akanbi and Mrs Elisabeth Ogundipe said the machines would aid them in getting additional income, which would in turn boost the welfare of their household.
The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari had earlier urged the farmers to key into the various initiatives and programmes designed by the government to address food insecurity in the country.
Senator Kyari who spoke through a representative from the Rural Department of the Ministry in Abuja, Mr Kolawole Ibukun said the distribution of yam processing machines to the farmers was aimed at improving the production of the commodity in the state.
He advised the beneficiaries to reciprocate the Federal government’s gesture by using the machines judiciously, noting that their commitment would ensure the programme’s sustenance for the benefit of others.
Also, Ogun State Coordinator, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Dr Oluwatoyin Ajayi said the provision of grinding machines would help to complete the value chain process in yam production.
