Operatives of Ogun State Police Command have arrested two suspected ritualists for allegedly killing 18-year-old Quadri Salami in Ajemo Area of Abeokuta, the state capital.

The father of the deceased had last month reported at Kemta Police Station of the missing of his son who is an 100 level student of Obafemi Awolowo University.

The suspects, Akeem Usman and Ifadowo Niyi were arrested after thorough investigation by men and officers of the command.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Omolola Odutola who confirmed the arrest in a statement in Abeokuta, said the Commissioner of Police, Mr Abiodun Alamutu led the team of Tactical Squad to Mile 6 in Ajemo Area of Abeokuta to exhume the decomposing body parts of the deceased from a shallow grave.

She explained that suspects confessed slaughtering the victim and dismembered his vital parts for ritual purposes.

The command’s spokesperson said one of the suspects, Ifadowo went away with Quadri’s head, and his two wrists, and paid the sum of one hundred thousand Naira into Akeem Usman’s account as proceeds from the sale of the human body parts.

She noted that suspects claimed to continue to sell the victim’s other body parts on demand to internet fraudsters and buried the heart, two legs, and flesh inside a plastic rubber for rituals and used the remaining parts for “Awure” a crime against humanity.

She added that the suspects are currently in Eleweran at the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID pending continuation of discreet investigations and will definitely be prosecuted.
