The Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh has been honoured alongside other public servants who are Indigenes of Cross River State for being elevated into various high-ranking offices to serve the Nation.

Governor of the State, Prince Bassey Edet Otu, who was the Chief host, treated the newly elevated public servants to a luncheon, presented them with plaques of honour and urged them to continuously make the State proud.

In his remarks, the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh said. 

“I am sure that the significance of this honour is not lost on me and my other colleagues so recognized. 

For me, occupying a position of authority is a call to service. The get-together is a sobering reminder of the enormous task at hand and a reaffirmation of the commitment to represent our state in the best tradition of committed and selfless service long established by our past political leaders who served our state and country with pride and distinction before us”.

“I am therefore supremely confident that with unremitting passion and commitment, the enviable record set by these trailblazers will be sustained by us, the present crop of leaders entrusted with the baton of leadership. I expect that our state and country will be enriched by the sacrifices we make and our contributions to nation-building”.


Senator John Owan Enoh was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2003 and re-elected twice till 2015 before he represented Cross River Central Senatorial District from 2015 to 2019.

He was appointed as Minister of Sports Development by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on 16th August, 2023.
