Osun State government has ordered a 6pm to 6am curfew with immediate effect on the warring Ifon and Ilobu communities, starting from Tuesday, 30th January 2024.

The is contained in a statement by the Osun State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. Kolapo Alimiand after a State Security Meeting.

The government also directed the setting up of a joint task force comprising of all stakeholders in the warring communities, which would include traditional chiefs of Ifon, Ilobu and Erin-Osun.

The government also states that a high-powered stakeholders meeting will be held with all traditional chiefs and rulers from the three communities with government officials and all security chiefs in attendance.

The statement directs the deployment of all security personnel, comprising the Army, Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence to the warring communities with immediate effect.

The government adds that anyone or group of persons caught doing any illegality or instigating any further violence, knowingly or unknowingly, in breach of lasting peace would be prosecuted, in line with the dictates of the law of Nigeria.
