By Iyabo Adebisi

In Oyo state, it has now become a Criminal offence for individuals or organizations that fail to report the storage of dangerous substances within 72 hours to face the wrath of the law under Section 5(2) of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).

This followed the signing of Executive Order 001 on the handling and storage of explosives in the state by Governor Seyi Makinde.

Speaking with journalists on the development, Governor Seyi Makinde said the order became imperative to prevent the recurrence of the Bodija explosion which occurred recently.

While maintaining that the order form is for the overall security of Oyo state residents said the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security would work  with the relevant security agencies, particularly the Nigerian Army Bomb

Disposal Squad (BDS) Ibadan to assess the risk posed by each reported storage of harmful explosives for necessary actions.

Governor Makinde who later paid a visit to the site of the explosion to further assess the situation of things on the ground said the forensic report on the explosion would be ready next week on Monday while the government would hold an expanded meeting the following day to know the next line of action.
