The Director General Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Dr. Mohammed Bulama has promised to return Radio Nigeria as the Broadcaster of choice in the country.

Dr. Bulama gave the promise during a working visit to Ibadan Zonal Station

Speaking at a staff forum conveyed at the Studio One of the Broadcasting House, Dugbe, Ibadan, Dr. Bulama who described Radio Nigeria as the nation’s asset which had existed as the flagship of broadcasting spanning the nooks and crannies of the nation said issues responsible for it’s current status would be urgently addressed.

He summarised the challenges confronting  Radio Nigeria stations across the states of the federation as neglect by successive governments and associated problem of non-funding saying poor communication would be better addressed if government-owned media is revamped.

He promised to prioritise and facilitate the training and skills acquisition for members of staff to enhance optimum performance adding that staff shortage and the welfare of members of staff would be accorded high importance.

Dr. Bulama who was conducted round the operation areas and facilities of premier 93.5 FM and Amuludun 99.1fm, Moniya described Ibadan zonal station as a legacy station, proposing that premier FM should run twenty-four hours broadcast.

Earlier in a welcome address, the Zonal Director Mr Dominic Mokikan, expressed joy at the appointment of Dr. Mohammed Bulama as the new DG of FRCN saying a thoroughbred professional was now in charge of the corporation. 

Mr Mokikan expressed optimism that with Dr Bulama in the saddle, the needed speed to attain the highly coveted status was achievable in the Ibadan zone.

Some members of staff who promised to support the vision of the new Director General also bore their minds on their challenges.

Highpoint of the visit was the presentation of a Special Valentine’s gift to the DG and his entourage including Director Special Duties, Alhaji Tanko Yunusa, Director Programmes, Mrs Msurchima Kighi, Director Engineer Services, Engr Sanda Askira, Deputy Director Investment, Mrs Chinyere Oaikheena, and the Deputy Director Legal Adviser, Mrs Bukola Shonibare.
