The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) and the Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Abuja to eliminate regulatory gaps in the telecommunication sector.
The agreement focuses on protecting consumers from exploitative practices.
At the signing, FCCPC’s Executive Vice Chairman, Mr. Tunji Bello, emphasized that the MOU aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s vision to drive economic growth through regulatory collaboration, enhance market efficiency, and prioritize consumer welfare.

Mr. Bello called on other sector regulators to replicate this approach, as mandated by Section 105 of the FCCPA, to ensure that consumers in all sectors benefit from coordinated regulatory oversight.
Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Communication Commission, Dr. Aminu Maida, highlighted that the MOU reflects a shared commitment to fostering a transparent, competitive, and consumer-focused telecommunications industry.
Dr. Maida added that the initiative is essential to creating a level playing field for stakeholders while protecting consumers who rely on reliable and affordable communication services.
