Officers of the Sakura Police Division have apprehended a street urchin who engages in sharp tricks to rob unsuspecting people, particularly women, of their possessions.
Ogun State Police Command Public Relations officer, Ms Omolola Odutola said the arrest was in response to the orders from State Commissioner of Police Lanre Ogunlowo for intensive raids aimed at eliminating criminals and preventing potential crimes.
Ms Odutola explained that the Sakura Divisional Police Officer encountered one Abdullahi Sodiq, a male with no identifiable address in possession of a black handbag belonging to a woman and inside the bag were an iPhone, travel documents, a house key, and several other items.
She said that during questioning, Abdullahi Sodiq could not provide a satisfactory explanation about the bag that was in his possession.
The police public Relations officer added that a follow-up investigation revealed that the rightful owner of the bag was identified as Iyabo Ogunubi, who had previously had it stolen by Abdullahi.
Ms Odutola said the case would be taken to the court, and urged the public to prioritize the security of their valuables.
