Do not drink when you drive – Police

Ogun State Police Command has renewed its call against driving under the influence of any form of substance abuse.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola made the call while reacting to the fatal crash that occurred in the Ile-Oba area along the Ogijo/Ita-Oluwo/Ikorodu Road. 

She said that the crash involved a TVS tricycle with license plate number Lagos BDG 561QN, driven by 21-year-old Usman Abdullahi, and a female pedestrian whose identity remained unknown.

The Command’s Spokesperson said the pedestrian was attempting to cross the road when the tricycle, en route to the Ogijo main park, struck her and she was immediately rushed to the private health centre, Ogijo, for the severe head injuries she sustained.

Miss Odutola who said the the driver, Usman Abdullahi, was currently in police custody advised  road users  to adhere to driving rules and avoid needless fatal crashes.

She reminded the motorists to exercise caution on the roads, especially in high-traffic areas, to prevent further tragedies.
