Osun Crisis: IGP Warns Against Inciting Violence

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun has cautioned Political actors and agitators against inciting further unrest in Osun State.

This was disclosed in a statement made available to newsmen by the Force Public Relations Officer, Mr Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

IGP Egbetokun warned that lawlessness and anarchy would not be tolerated in the state. 

He condemned the violence which occurred on Monday and vowed to prosecute and bring the perpetrators to justice.

“The police are committed to identifying those behind these criminal acts and ensuring they face the full weight of the law,” the statement read.

The Police Boss emphasised that electoral disputes must be resolved through the judiciary, which remains the final arbiter.

The IGP explained that additional tactical squads had been deployed to Osun State, to restore peace, in view of violent clashes which claimed the lives of three People.

“The Force will clamp down on any attempts to disrupt law and order in any part of the country. Osun’s situation is under close watch to ensure safety for all residents,” he affirmed.

He urged Residents of the State to remain calm as security agencies work to restore normalcy across the State.
