The Ondo State government has acknowledged the vital role of women in societal development, pledging commitment to their welfare.
Speaking at the International Women’s Day celebration in Akure, the state capital, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa expressed delight at the progress women had made over the years even in the face of challenges such as gender discrimination and violence against women.
The governor gave an assurance that his administration would continue to prioritize the well-being of the female gender and ensuring equal opportunities to thrive.
In a remark, the special adviser to the Governor on Women Affairs, Dr. Seun Osamaye, commended Governor Aiyedatiwa’s recognition of women as key stakeholders in the development of Ondo State and highlighted various programs initiated to support women, including access to essential social amenities,quality healthcare and empowerment of young girls.
The occasion also featured distribution of grants to various women’s groups to support their businesses .
