Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has expressed his condolences to the victims of a devastating rainstorm that destroyed classrooms at Mayigi Community Comprehensive High School, Ilase, in the Ipokia Local Government Area.
The incident claimed the life of a 14-year-old Junior Secondary School Three student, Timothy Amosun, while five other students, two teachers, a food vendor, and her seven-month-old child sustained injuries.
Describing the incident as deeply shocking and painful, Governor Abiodun extended his sympathies to the bereaved family, praying for strength and comfort in their time of grief.
The Governor also announced that the state government would cover the medical expenses of those that sustained injuries. He also directed relevant agencies to transfer critically wounded victims to specialist hospitals within and outside Ogun State, ensuring they receive the highest level of medical care.
Furthermore, Governor Abiodun instructed the Commissioner for Education to visit the affected families and the school to assess the damage and outline necessary steps for rebuilding the structures.
