By Omolara Adasofunjo

The annual Ramadan lecture of the Ogun State House of Assembly saw as crucial, the need for individuals, families and leaders in various sectors of the society to shun all acts of injustice and be deliberate in acts that would promote equity, accountability and transparency.

The lecture was titled: “Injustice in the World Today: Causes, Effect and the Way Out”.

During the lecture held at Muslim Community Mosque, Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the Mudheer, Insight Institute for Islamic and Technical Studies, Dr. Afiz Adeyemi described acts of injustice such as covetousness, corruption, inequality, poor leadership and the lack of accountability as an indicator of people who do not fear God.

Speaker, State House of Assembly, Mr Oludaisi Elemide had earlier said the lecture was organised in the Holy month of Ramadan which symbolized repentance, mercy, goodness, generosity, and abstinence from sinful acts.

The Deputy Minority Leader of the Assembly and Chairman, Ramadan Lecture Organizing Committee, Mr Lukman Atobatele equally noted that the topic was apt, considering the need for urgent solution to the prevailing injustice by powerful countries against the weak.

He expressed concern that the rich was taking advantage of the poor while leaders imposed undue punishment on their followers among other acts of oppression around the world.
