Innovation elevates media to impact society- FRCN Ibadan ZD

The Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN Ibadan Zonal Station, Mr Dominic Mokikan has identified  innovation and  dynamism as instrument for elevating the media while also making impact in the society.

Mr Mokikan stated this at the official Opening of an online media outfit, “Rulers World Media” located at Oke – Bola, Ibadan, Oyo State. 

The Zonal Director who was represented by the Deputy  Director, News and Current Affairs Department, Mr Adewumi Faniran said, the dynamic nature as well as emerging innovation in the sector has become evident in the establishment of online magazine, radio, and television channels which he said has engendered prompt dissemination of news without barriers.

Mr Mokikan who lauded the establishment of Rulers World Media, noted that the outfit would create more Jobs for Nigerian youths.

While emphasizing the need for adherence to media ethics and professionalism, the Zonal Director called on other well-meaning individuals to evolve initiatives that would reduce unemployment rates in the country.

Speaking in the same vein, the Baale of Eketedo, Baale Taye Ayorinde urged management of Rulers World Media and other players in the media industry to ensure regular training and re-training of  journalists in line with International best practices.

 Baale Ayorinde encouraged Rulers World Media to create people Orientated programmes that would promote peace and harmony in the society.

 In his reaction, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Oyo State Council, Ademola Babalola, represented by the Vice Chairman, Mr Oluseye Ojo urged Management and staff of Rulers World Media to abide by the rules guiding journalism profession as well as familiarising themselves with regulations guiding the environment within which they operate. 

Earlier in his address, the Chairman and CEO of Rulers World Media, Dr John Famodimu expressed optimism that the Future of Journalism would soar higher in the country if journalists desist from disseminating fake or unverified information to the public. 

High points of the events were goodwill messages from Dignitaries including the Owa Obokun of Ijesa Land, Oba Clement Hastrup, Wife of Late prominent politician in Ibadan, Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu, Alhaja Abosede  Adedibu among others.
