By Abimbola Bamgbose

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing critical infrastructure and fostering a business-friendly environment, highlighting that more industries have been established in the state over the past six years than under previous administrations.

Speaking at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, after receiving the Distinguished Visionary Leadership Award from the Foreign Investment Network, FIN, Governor Abiodun noted that Ogun State is among the six states designated for Special Agro-Processing Zones in partnership with the Federal government, African Development Bank, African Export-Import Bank, and the Islamic Development Bank.

He explained that his administration has partnered with private sector stakeholders to ensure the swift activation of the zone.

Outlining the state’s achievements in promoting ease of doing business, the governor cited the establishment of a Business Environment Council and the State Investment and Facilitation Agency, which acts as a one-stop-shop for investors.

The governor added that tax processes have been automated to eliminate multiple taxation.

Governor Abiodun emphasized the state’s strategic advantages, including its large population, abundant natural resources, and proximity to Nigeria’s largest market.

He revealed ongoing efforts to provide industries and residents with the most affordable electricity in the country.

Encouraging investors to explore opportunities in agriculture, power, manufacturing, and other sectors, Governor Abiodun urged the Foreign Investment Network to continue promoting the state’s potential globally. He further announced that FIN would be involved in planning the forthcoming state Economic Summit.

Presenting the award, FIN Chairperson, Dr. Olayinka Fayomi, commended the governor for the significant economic growth recorded under his leadership.

Dr. Fayomi added that FIN, with over 45 years of experience in promoting and facilitating investment across Africa, would further highlight the state’s opportunities at an upcoming business summit in Oman.

In his response, Governor Abiodun expressed gratitude for the honor, describing it as validation of his administration’s strides in development.

The governor encouraged FIN to sustain its efforts in attracting more investors to Ogun State and Nigeria at large.
