By Iyabo Adebisi

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State says the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) remained the only party in Nigeria with strong institutions, assuring that the party would bounce back in the 2027 general election.

He stated this while speaking at the inauguration of the Kamorudeen Ajisafe led PDP South West Executive held at Adagunodo Party Zonal Secretariat, Old Ife Road, Ibadan.

Speaking on the rumoured mass defection of PDP stalwarts to the ruling APC, Governor Makinde assured that he remained in the PDP with his counterpart from Osun state, Senator Ademola Adeleke.

The governor urged members of the PDP to hold on to their party, hoping that the people would choose wisely in the 2027 general election.

On his part, Senator Ademola Adeleke called on the new zonal executive members to commence a renewal of structure and aggressive reconciliation with aggrieved members across the southwest and the country as a whole.

The Ogun state 2023 PDP governorship candidate for the 2023 elections, Chief Ladi Adebutu while commending the PDP governors in the South West for providing good leadership, urged members of the party to be united to get their dues.

In his acceptance message, the PDP Southwest zonal Chairman, Kamorudeen Ajisafe said his executive election reflects hope, unity, order, and progress in the party, vowing to work towards reconciliation and the election of candidates in south West and Nigeria from now beyond 2027.

The new PDP executives were elected on April 16th 2025, in Ibadan.
