The Director, Department of State Services, DSS, Oyo State Command, Mr Rasheed Adelakun, has tasked the mainstream media to change the narrative generated through misinformation disseminated by bloggers and other unconventional media to the public.
Mr Adelakun stated this when the management of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Ibadan Zonal Station, paid the command a courtesy visit.
The Oyo State Director of the DSS said the advent of social media had given non-professionals the platform to share information that could be detrimental to the unity and development of the country, hence the need for clarification by the conventional media.
Mr Adelakun assured the management of FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station of the service unreserved collaboration and support to move the nation forward.
Earlier in a remark, the Zonal Director, FRCN, Ibadan, Mr Dominic Mokikan stressed that Radio Nigeria would continue to reach out and synergise with partners in progress, including the Directorate of State Services, to help disseminate authentic information to the citizens.
Mr Mokikan noted that with the wider reach of FRCN, the corporation was committed to providing a veritable medium to the Department of State Service and other organisations to get their information to the public.
On the entourage of the Zonal Director were the Deputy Director Programmes, Reverend Niyi Dahunsi, Deputy Director Marketing, Mr Adewale Afinjuomo, Deputy Director News and Current Affairs, Mr Adewumi Faniran and Deputy Director Administration, Reverend Adebayo Esho.
