A farmer has mistakenly shot his own son to death in Iye Ekiti, Ilejemeje Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Joseph Eribo who confirmed the incident to newsmen in Ado Ekiti, said that the farmer had been invited for interrogation.
According to Mr Eribo, the suspect said he went to farm with his fifteen year old son to work.
The father explained that monkeys had been terrorizing his farm and while working, he observed a movement on a tree and fired a gun shot believing that it was a monkey only for his son to fall from the tree.
The commissioner of police however refused to reveal the name of the farmer.
