Gov Makinde Advocates Single Term for Political Office Holders

Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi ‎Makinde has called for a constitutional amendment to allow a single five- or six-year term for political office holders in Nigeria.

He made the call at his Ikolaba residence in Ibadan while receiving  the state delegation who paid him a Sallah homage following the Eid Kabir prayers held at the Agodi Eid Prayer Ground.

‎Governor Makinde maintained that a single-term system would enhance good governance by reducing the distractions and pressure associated with re-election campaigns, thereby promoting better service delivery and accountability.

‎The Governor therefore urged stakeholders to look the issue which has been discussed at the National Assembly.

‎He expressed appreciation to Islamic leaders and the Muslim Ummah for their prayers and support, which he said have significantly contributed to the success of his administration.

‎Delivering the messages of Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the Otun Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja enjoined people to remain steadfast and hopeful in the face of challenges. 

‎Special prayers were offered for the Governor, the State and the nation by Professor Kamil Olosho .

‎Earlier in an interview,the Deputy Governor, Bayo Lawal urged Muslim Ummah to always exhibit the valuable lessons of obedience, trust and true sacrifice to the will of God which are doctrines and lessons taught by the Holy Quran
