The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared Mrs Adesola Elegbeji, of the All Progressives Congress, APC, winner of the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency bye-election.

Announcing the result, Returning Officer, Dr. Kazeem Bello, stated that Mrs Elegbeji polled 41,237 votes to defeat her rival, who scored 14,324 votes on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, while the African Democratic Congress, ADC, recorded 289 votes.

The election was conducted across the three local government areas of the constituency of Ikenne, Sagamu and Remo North covering all registered polling units.

The bye-election was held to fill the seat left vacant by the death of the former lawmaker, Mrs. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, who died in January during a brief illness.
