UI Students Visit Radio Nigeria Facility

Twenty-three postgraduate students from the Communication and Language Arts department, University of Ibadan, have embarked on an excursion to the broadcasting House of Radio Nigeria, Dugbe, Ibadan.

The students who were led by a senior lecturer in the institution, Dr Francis Amenaghawon who was a former principal officer at Radio Nigeria, were briefed on the various activities of the corporation.

Addressing the students, Deputy Director, News and Current Affairs Department, FRCN, Ibadan, Mr Adewumi Faniran said Radio Nigeria has nine stations which form the Ibadan zonal station.

Mr Faniran maintained that Dr Amenaghawon until his return to the academia was a diligent staff who left an indelible mark.

He encouraged the students to  be good representatives of their institution and parents.

During their attendance of the editorial conference of the news department, Representatives of various units took turn to explain how they performed their duties on daily basis.

Some of the students, including Fikayo Oyewole and Aliu AbdulRasheed, said FRCN, Ibadan, was a trailblazer, whose professionalism was unequal. 

They noted that the visit had further broadened their horizon on radio broadcast.

In a remark, Dr  Amenaghawon said Radio Nigeria remained the hub for broadcast learning in Nigeria.

 He urged the Management of the Corporation to prioritise the training of staff to meet the current competition in Nigeria’s broadcast industry.

The students were also conducted around various facilities in the corporation.
