My administration will continually support the judiciary – Makinde

Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has assured that his administration will continue to support the judiciary and uphold the highest principles of the rule of law.

Engineer Makinde gave the assurance at the special church service marking the opening of the 2025/2026 Legal Year, held at the Cathedral of Saint James the Great, Oke Bola, Ibadan.

The governor, represented by the Oyo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Abiodun Aikomo, said the government remained committed to protecting the rights of citizens and advancing and enforcing justice across the state.

He emphasized that his administration had appointed more judges to ensure the speedy dispensation of justice and to strengthen the judicial process.

Governor Makinde commended the bar and bench for their unwavering integrity, describing it as the solid foundation sustaining the state’s justice system.

In her remarks, the Chief Judge of Oyo State, Justice Iyabo Yerima, noted that most courts in the state had undergone reforms to align with modern judicial standards.

In a sermon at the Cathedral of Saint James the Great, Oke Bola, Ibadan, the Bishop of Ibadan Diocese, the Most Reverend Joseph Akinfenwa, admonished members of the judiciary to dispense justice with the fear of God.

Also, in a sermon delivered at the Oyo State High Court Mosque, Ring Road, Ibadan, Alhaji Abdul-Afisi Oladosu charged members of the judiciary to remain the hope of the common man.
