Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has presented the 2026 Appropriation Bill of over Seven Hundred Billion Naira christened “Budget of Economic Transformation”, to the State House of Assembly.
The recurrent expenditure is N317.41bn, which is 45% of the proposed budget, while capital expenditure, which is N388.37bn, stands at 55% of the budget.
Governor Adeleke explained that the proposed budget is a visionary roadmap for the collective future, a blueprint for sustainable growth, and a bold declaration of his administration’s unwavering commitment to improving the lives of every citizen in Osun State.
Senator Adeleke emphasised that the proposed budget would fostering sustainable growth, promoting equity, and strengthening resilience through pragmatic and inclusive policies.
“Our Administration has attained a remarkable milestone in implementing the 2025 Budget. It is therefore with a high sense of duty. I present the appropriation bill for the year 2026 fiscal year; and to acknowledge the maturity, discipline and patriotism behind your individual and collective conduct in your bid to uphold the democratic governance tenets”.
The State Governor noted that his administration attained a remarkable milestone in implementing the 2025 budget and promised to ensure the completion of all ongoing Projects as well as embark on new ones where critically needed.
Last year, Governor Adeleke presented over three hundred and ninety billion naira proposed budget before the State House of Assembly and later jacked it up to four hundred and twenty seven billion naira, to accommodate more meaningful projects.
Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Prince Adewale Egbedun explained that the presentation was a critical democratic practice that reflected the collective dedication, transparency and accountability for effective Governance.
Prince Egbedun noted that the implementation of the 2024 and 2025 budgets had produced measurable outputs in infrastructure, education, healthcare, social inclusion and workers’ welfare.
“The implementation of previous budgets, particularly the 2024 and 2025 budgets, has produced measurable outcomes in infrastructure, education, healthcare, social inclusion, and workers’ welfare. These successes are evidence of a government determined to turn policy into tangible benefits for the people.”
He assured the governor that the house would conduct careful legislative scrutiny to ensure that the budget reflects the hopes and aspirations of the people of Osun State.
In separate remarks, Chairman House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Mr Olumide Fatunmise and Majority Leader, Mr Kofoworola Adewunmi promised that the members of the 8th Assembly remained committed to fostering a harmonious relationship with the Executive.
