Oyo State Government, in partnership with private and corporate organisers, has announced the programme outline for the month-long Vibing December celebration also known as Faaji December -a month-long celebration in different forms to mark the end of 2025 and usher in 2026 across the state.
The State’s Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatubosun, who addressed newsmen at a press conference held at the Cultural Centre, Ibadan noted that the event would create business opportunities for residents throughout the yuletide season.
He noted that the carnival would not be restricted to Ibadan alone but hold concurrently across various parts of the state, adding that adequate arrangements have been made to secure lives and property before, during, and after the event.
Dr Olatunbosun disclosed that activities for the carnival, which is intended to put the state in celebratory mood and create business opportunities for residents of the state throughout the yuletide period, would commence on December 1, 2025 to January 2, 2026.
According to him, a number of corporate sponsors, would feature activities such as; Legendary December by Nigerian Breweries PLC from December 4 to January 2, 2026 with beer village at designated centers, D Fantasyland variety programme at the Recreation Club open field, Sabo, Ibadan between 24th to 26th December, Ojude UI at the University of Ibadan open field (December 20) artistes’ hangout and concerts.
Other events include; Amala cuisine exhibition by Amala Festival ( December 6), Ogbomoso Cradle Carnival by Ogbomoso Community slated for December 18 to 22, Oyo Durbar on December 27, Amaland Festival, Atewolara Festival at National Museum, Aleshinloye , Ibadan ( December 14) and Variety shows and Hotel Vibes by JAGZ Hotel and Hoteliers Association respectively.
Representatives of the various corporate organizations among who is popular Hollywood Yoruba film actor, Kunle Afod highlighted the several programs lined up for by their respective organizations for the celebrations.
The carnival is expected to be flagged off in the first week of December by the Oyo State governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde.
