The Comptroller General of Customs, Mr Bashir Adeniyi has approved a change of leadership at the Ogun I Area Command with the appointment of Deputy Comptroller Olukayode Oladapo Afeni as the Acting Customs Area Controller.
Deputy Comptroller Olukayode Afeni takes over from Comptroller Godwin Otunla following a formal handover ceremony held at the Command Headquarters, Idiroko, ogun state
In his remarks, the Acting Custom Area Controller Ogun 1 Command, Olukayode Afeni commended the Comptroller- General for the opportunity and pledged to build on the Command’s achievements in trade facilitation, revenue collection and anti-smuggling operations.
He also assured stakeholders of improved operational efficiency, intelligence-led enforcement and stronger community and inter-agency collaboration.


In his parting speech, Comptroller Godwin Otunla described his tenure as impactful and expressed confidence in DC Afeni’s ability to advance the Command’s mandate, noting that the leadership transition reinforces efforts to strengthen border security and promote legitimate trade.
Deputy Comptroller Afeni holds a Bachelor of Technology in Industrial designs from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, and a Master Degree in diplomacy and Strategic studies from University of Lagos, and had undergone extensive training in Conflict Management, International Negotiation, Strategic leadership and border operations among others.
