NCC Charges Nigerians on Efficient Data Management

Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, has advised Nigerians to adopt practical tips that could help them manage their data usage more efficiently.

The NCC Zonal Controller, Mr Tunji Jimoh gave the advice while featuring on Paramount FM Telecom Consumer Town Hall meeting on Data Usage and Data Management.

Mr Jimoh explained that, one of the key steps users could take was to set data alerts and monitor usage regularly and this could be done by using built-in trackers, third-party apps, or services provided by Mobile Network Operators, MNOs.

He also urged mobile subscribers to activate the “Data Saver” feature on their devices to cut down data usage and prevent apps from using data in the background. 

The Zonal Controller further explained that, the telecom Consumer Town Hall meeting on Radio was designed to educate the telecom consumers on the mandate of the commission and to share up-to-date information on how the NCC was delivering on its mandates. 

He expressed NCC’s commitment to advancing the goal of consumer empowerment through information sharing, education, and the protection of telecom consumers for the overall development of the sector.

In their separate remarks, the representatives of MTN, Mrs Esther Jaja, Global Communications, Mr Sylvester Isiakpere, Airtel, Mr Olusegun Adeoye and 9Mobile, Mr Kole Aluko pointed out that heavy usage like streaming videos/music, downloading large files, and background apps could cause rapid data depletion.

Some of the callers, stressed the need for all service providers to improve their operations, render effective services and give priority to customers satisfaction.
