The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed a major fire outbreak at the Ogun Guangdong Free Trade Zone, Igbesa, affecting several industrial facilities and adjoining residential buildings.
In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, Mr Oluseyi Babaseyi said the inferno was traced to a gas-related explosion at a foam-manufacturing company located within the trade zone.
Mr Babaseyi explained that the fire rapidly spread to surrounding structures due to the presence of flammable materials and the close proximity of industrial buildings.
The Ogun State Police Command added that a full investigation had been launched to determine the exact cause of the fire and to review safety compliance by companies operating within the Ogun Guangdong Free Trade Zone.
