By Rasheedah Makinde

Effective leadership has been described as one of the factors that can ensure the success of any organisation.

President, Rotary International, Mr Francesco Arezzo stated this at the club’s town hall meeting and banquet dinner, held in Ibadan.

Mr Arezzo said Rotary Club, which has been in existence since 1905 in the United States of America, has catered for thousands of people and if the leadership styles or roles had not prioritized members’ welfare, the purpose of the association would have been defeated.

On his part, Rotary International President-elect, Mr Olayinka Babalola said the main purpose of the club was to guide the organisation’s focus on community service, high ethical standards and fellowship.

Mr Babalola appealed to leaders of the club to provide direction, inspire and foster cohesion by addressing challenges, promoting ethical standards and driving economic growth.

Contributing, one of the guests, who is the Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN Ibadan Zonal Station, Mr. Olufemi Fulani said leadership starts from the root, as it is based on human race, knowledge and Endeavours, but if distorted, could mar an organisation.

One of the Rotarians, who is also a staff of FRCN, Mrs Ronke Olajide said the club has been helping communities on different issues as part of its social responsibilities.

The host of the event, District Governor of the club, Mr. Funkeakpo Batife who covers seven states including Oyo State, appreciated the guests and dignitaries for making the event a success.

The town hall and dinner had in attendance, Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial district, Dr Sharafadeen Alli and wife of the Olubadan of Ibadan, Queen Rasheedah Ladoja
