Man Arrested over Alleged Goat Theft

The Ogun State Community Social Orientation and Safety Corps, codenamed So-Safe Corps, has arrested a 27 years old suspect, Emmanuel Awahnse, a.k.a Ariwo Oja, at a church in Ipokia Area of Ogun State, while celebrating the naming ceremony of his child, for stealing goats.

The State Commander of So-Safe Corps, Dr Soji Ganzallo in a statement by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Mr Adegunwa Adegbuyi, explains that on February 6, 2026 officers of the Corps attached to Ifonyintedo Division, while on routine patrol, sighted the suspect and an accomplice about 5am on a motorcycle on transit with black bag containing an unidentified items along Madoga, Ita-Ege road.

According to the statement, the suspects escaped leaving behind the bag and motorcycle, and during the search of the bag, the Corps discovered that it contained three goats.

The statement shows that, afterwards, the Area Commander, Ipokia Area Command, Mr Aliu Yusuf, directed the Divisional Officer to be on high alert for the suspects at large, and on February 19 at about 1:30pm, Awahnse, a native of Odoforo in Ipokia Local Government was nabbed, at a family function.

It says that during interrogation, the suspect admitted to the crime, and confessed that he stole the goats alongside one Ketonsu, a.k.a Ijagun, at Ifonyintedo Area.

The statement notes that, the suspect and recovered exhibits had been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Idiroko Division for further investigation and possible prosecution.
