By Mojisola Oladele

Twenty-five lawmakers including the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Prince Adewale Egbedun who were elected under the People’s Democratic Party, PDP have announced their defection to the Accord Party.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Mr. Olamide Tiamiyu, the decision was reached during a meeting, held at the Assembly Complex, Osogbo.

“The members had resigned from the PDP weeks ago. Following what they described as deep reflection and extensive consultations with supporters, political associates and key stakeholders, they resolved to align with Accord.”

The lawmakers expressed their conviction that Accord party would provide a more stable, inclusive and people-centred platform through which they could continue to serve the people of Osun State.

They explained that the move was driven by a determination to advance the collective interests of the people and to sustain development across the state.

The lawmakers urged their supporters to remain steadfast and join them as they embark on the new political chapter.

They thereafter met with Governor Ademola Adeleke and Accord Party leaders at the Government House, where they reaffirmed their unwavering support for the Governor.
