The Oyo State Police Command says four passengers abducted along the Igbeti–Kishi road have been rescued.
According to the statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, the victims were kidnapped in the early hours of Wednesday when armed hoodlums reportedly emerged from a bush and intercepted a commercial bus travelling from Igbeti to Kishi.
He said the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Femi Haruna, immediately directed Divisional Police Officers in Igbeti and Kishi, alongside tactical teams, to mobilize operational resources to ensure the safe rescue of the victims.
A combined security team comprising police operatives and other security agencies later launched an intensive bush-combing operation, forcing the kidnappers to abandon their victims and flee.
The statement added that efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects, while residents are urged to remain vigilant and provide credible information to assist security agencies in combating crime.
