Chairperson of the Nigeria Labour Congress , NLC Women Committee, Oyo State Chapter, Mrs Olumide Lawal-Bolanle, has called for the protection of women’s rights and their empowerment to build a fair and dignified society.
Mrs Lawal-Bolanle made the call while speaking on the celebration of this year’s International Women’s Day in an interview with Radio Nigeria Ibadan, where she emphasised the importance of gender equity and the contributions of women to societal development.
The NLC Women Committee chairperson noted that the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day, “Give to Gain,” underscores the need to invest in women in order to achieve a more equitable and prosperous world.
She explained that recognising the invaluable contributions of women to society would help strengthen families, institutions and nations.
