Operatives of the Quick Response Squad (QRS), Ogun State Police Command, have arrested a 38-year-old man, Joseph Kehinde, and his 13-year-old son for unlawful possession of a firearm along the Shagamu/Ogijo Road axis.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, Mr Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the suspects were apprehended during a stop-and-search operation at the Lafarge area, where a tricycle conveying the minor was intercepted, and a search conducted on him led to the recovery of a locally made pistol, one live cartridge and a mask.

Mr Babaseyi noted that the suspect could not give a satisfactory account of the items but claimed the firearm belonged to his father, prompting operatives to intensify efforts which led to the arrest of Kehinde.
The Police Spokesperson said both suspects and the recovered exhibits had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and would be charged to court upon conclusion of the process.
The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, Mr Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their vigilance and reaffirmed the Command’s zero tolerance for illegal firearms, urging residents to provide timely and credible information to security agencies.
